The highest recommended processor speed is Intel Core 2 Duo (E5400). This one also required most computing power. I choose the Duo E8500. I selected the upgraded option because it has faster operating system, along with larger memory and faster all around transferring data speed . Which is very nice because I hate slow computers and that’s the most important thing to me when buying a new computer. Also this next computer I buy I am also thinking in regards to my future like 4 or 5 years out about how I will need and use the computer. But saying all of this it does not overdo my computer needs, as it is just a perfect fit.

Question I'd ask though... if the only difference between the two machines is 3ghz speed vs. 3.16ghz speed -- are you sensitive enough to how fast your computer is running that you can tell the difference between those two speeds when using computer? Is it going to make a $180 difference?
